Chromium in GlucoZen: How Much, and Does It Matter?
GlucoZen lists 0.7 mcg of chromium, as chromium picolinate, in each 1 mL. At the label's 1 mL twice daily, that is 1.4 mcg a day, about 4% of the 35 mcg Daily Value. Chromium trials for glucose are inconsistent, and the ADA's 2026 Standards do not recommend chromium supplements for blood sugar benefit.

The numbers
How much chromium is in GlucoZen?
Each 1 mL serving lists 0.7 mcg of chromium, shown on the label as 2% of the Daily Value. No other ingredient on the bottle has its own printed amount.
The directions say to take 1 mL twice daily. That doubles the daily total to 1.4 mcg. A full bottle holds 60 servings, so it carries about 42 mcg of chromium in all. That is our math from the label, not a lab test.
| Per 1 mL serving | 0.7 mcg (2% DV) |
|---|---|
| Per day (1 mL twice daily) | 1.4 mcg, about 4% DV |
| Per bottle (60 servings) | About 42 mcg |
| Form | Chromium picolinate, a mineral salt |
| Daily Value for adults | 35 mcg |
The rest of the formula is a 200 mg blend of 22 ingredients with no single amounts. The Supplement Facts page types out every line.
Dose check
How does GlucoZen's chromium compare with the Daily Value?
The first bar shows a day of drops against the Daily Value.
A day of GlucoZen fills about one twenty-fifth of the chromium Daily Value. The second bar shows the whole blend against one herb's usual dose. Both bars point the same way: the amounts in each serving are small.
Daily needs
How much chromium do adults need each day?
Adults need about 20 to 35 mcg a day, depending on age and sex. NIH sets these as Adequate Intakes, the amount that is assumed to be enough (NIH ODS, Chromium).
| Group | Adequate Intake | GlucoZen share per day |
|---|---|---|
| Men, 19 to 50 | 35 mcg | About 4% |
| Women, 19 to 50 | 25 mcg | About 6% |
| Men, over 50 | 30 mcg | About 5% |
| Women, over 50 | 20 mcg | About 7% |
Shares are our math: 1.4 mcg divided by each intake. They are not a lab result.
Research
Does chromium help with blood sugar?
The research is inconsistent. A 2019 review of 58 trials found slight drops in fasting glucose and A1C, but NIH notes the changes were of unclear clinical meaning (NIH ODS, Chromium).
FDA allows only a qualified health claim for chromium. That claim calls the link between chromium picolinate and insulin resistance highly uncertain (NIH ODS, Chromium). Highly uncertain is FDA's own wording, not ours.
The ADA's 2026 Standards of Care, Recommendation 5.16, say micronutrient supplements such as chromium or magnesium are not recommended for blood sugar benefit. Without an underlying deficiency, the ADA sees no benefit from such supplements for people with diabetes (ADA, Standards of Care 2026).
No trial has tested GlucoZen itself. Any study of chromium alone also used its own dose, not 1.4 mcg mixed into a 22-ingredient blend. More context on chromium doses is in our chromium dose article.

Order nowLabel rules
Why is chromium listed separately on the GlucoZen label?
Federal rules require it. FDA's labeling guide says nutrients with a Daily Value, such as chromium, must be listed on their own line with their amount, even when a product also has a proprietary blend (FDA, Labeling guide).
So chromium shows up as a number, while the 22 blend ingredients share one total. That rule is a quiet strength of the label: you can check the chromium dose exactly. It also shows how small it is.
- Listed line: Chromium (as Chromium Picolinate) 0.7 mcg, 2% DV.
- Blend line: Proprietary Herbal Blend 200 mg, no Daily Value.
- Form named: picolinate, a mineral salt.

Safety
Can chromium in GlucoZen cause low blood sugar?
The dose here is tiny, but chromium as a nutrient may add to the effect of insulin and other diabetes drugs. NIH notes that this can raise the risk of low blood sugar (NIH ODS, Chromium).
Other ingredients in the blend may matter too. The ADA warns that some supplement ingredients can intensify diabetes medicines (ADA, Vitamins and supplements). That is one reason the label says to consult a physician first if you take a medication.
For many people with diabetes, a reading below 70 mg/dL is low. Shakiness, hunger, dizziness or confusion need treatment right away (NIDDK, Hypoglycemia). Keep every diabetes medicine as prescribed and tell your clinician about any supplement you add.

FAQ
GlucoZen chromium FAQ
Is 0.7 mcg of chromium enough to do anything?
It is a very small dose. Two servings give 1.4 mcg a day, about 4% of the 35 mcg Daily Value. Trials of chromium for glucose are inconsistent even at their own doses, and none tested GlucoZen.
What is chromium picolinate in GlucoZen?
Chromium picolinate is a mineral salt, the form of chromium the GlucoZen label names. It supplies the 0.7 mcg of chromium in each 1 mL serving. It sits on its own line, outside the 200 mg herbal blend.
Does the ADA recommend chromium for diabetes?
No. The ADA's 2026 Standards of Care say chromium, magnesium, herb and spice supplements are not recommended for blood sugar benefit. Without a deficiency, the ADA sees no benefit from such supplements for people with diabetes.
How much chromium is in one bottle of GlucoZen?
About 42 mcg, by our math. Each bottle has 60 servings of 1 mL, and each serving lists 0.7 mcg. At 1 mL twice daily the bottle lasts 30 days, at 1.4 mcg of chromium per day.
Can I take a separate chromium supplement with GlucoZen?
Ask your clinician first. Chromium may add to the effect of insulin and other diabetes drugs, which can raise the risk of low blood sugar. Bring both labels so the total dose is clear.
How much chromium do women need each day?
NIH lists 25 mcg a day for women aged 19 to 50 and 20 mcg after 50. GlucoZen's 1.4 mcg a day covers about 6% to 7% of those amounts.
